Algae MANAGEMENT IN WATER BODIES.

Algae and cyanobacteria are simple, plant-like organisms that live in the water. Algae and cyanobacteria can rapidly grow to an uncontrollable state, or “bloom” when water is warm, slow-moving and high in nutrient loading.

CYANOBACTERIA
Cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) are a type of microscopic, algae-like bacteria which inhabit freshwater, coastal and marine waters. Cyanobacteria photosynthesise like plants and have similar requirements for sunlight, nutrients and carbon dioxide to grow and produce oxygen. There are many different varieties of cyanobacteria. While often a green or blue-green colour, they can also be white, brown, blue, yellow-brown or red. If conditions are suitable, cyanobacteria can increase to excessive levels and form visible ‘blooms’ which. can lead to poor water quality and the potential for toxicity.

Cyanobacteria can cause environmental problems, disrupt drinking water supplies, recreational activities and water-dependent industries and pose a risk to livestock, wildlife and human health. Key Blue Green Algae species are Microcystis, Aphanizomenon, Anabaena and Oscillatoria.

ALGAE
Algae are aquatic, plant-like organisms. They encompass a variety of simple structures, from single-celled phytoplankton floating in the water, to large seaweeds (macroalgae) attached to the ocean floor. Filamentous algae: long, multicellular threadlike filaments or masses of algae. Planktonic algae: single-celled organisms or aggregations of single-celled algae that live near the water surface.

Future Drone Technologies has access to the latest algaecide technologies and management techniques to maintain and limit your algae populations. We can effectively get the algal population under control using our drone technology. After this, we can introduce a programmed and integrated maintenance approach, monitoring and managing nutrient concentrations within the water to prevent and limit future algal blooms.
